Night in Paradise (Universal 1946)

Universal released Night in Paradise on the 3rd of May, 1946.

Directed by Arthur Lubin, the film tells the tale of story-teller Aesop who, enlisted to help King Croesus, falls inappropriately in love along the way. It starred Merle Oberon, Turhan Bey, Thomas Gomez and Gale Sondergaard, and was producer Walter Wanger’s second attempt to film the novel, but ended up costing $1.6 million and losing Universal some $800,000.
