Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (Universal 1955)
Universal’s 28th, and final, Abbott and Costello film, Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy, was released on the 23rd of June, 1955.
The film carries on the tradition of the duo’s encounters with the Universal classic monsters, this time it’s the turn of that bandaged Egyptian relic, renamed Klaris just for fun. Stunt man Eddie Parker (billed as Edwin) donned the wraps in this predictable, slapstick horror spoof.
Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy was the end of more than one era: the lengthy pairing of Lou Costello and Bud Abbott and also their myriad meetings with monsters, which had begun in 1948 with Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.
