Strange Case of Doctor Rx, The (Universal 1942)

Universal’s The Strange Case of Doctor Rx was released on 17th April, 1942.

Unsure whether it was a thriller or a horror, this lesser-known romp had some great horror moments thrown in, the requisite monster in the form of a captive ape awaiting a brain transplant and the chance to run amok, and Lionel Atwill in creepy, thick-lensed spectacles. With a supporting cast including Patric Knowles, Anne Gwynne and Samuel S Hinds, it’s worth tracking down for an entertaining hour and six minutes.
