Hound of the Baskervilles, The (Hammer 1959)
Hammer’s version of The Hound of the Baskervilles was released on 4th May 1959.
Based on the novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and directed by Terence Fisher, the film starred Peter Cushing as Sherlock Holmes, André Morell as Dr Watson and Christopher Lee as Sir Henry Baskerville. The first adaptation of the book to be filmed in colour, The Hound of the Baskervilles is also one of the most widely critically acclaimed Hammer films in history.
