Venture back through the eerie corridors of the Nostromo and meet one of the most terrifying space invaders in all of horror history – the signed hardback Ultimate Guide to Alien 1979 is your must-have companion to another viewing of the sci-fi nightmare that reshaped cinema. Inside this luxurious signed hardcover guide to Alien, you’ll rediscover the acclaimed combination of design, performance and storytelling that created a whole new cultural universe where girl power reigns supreme on both sides of the battle between good and evil. With a wealth of information and commentary, accompanied by breathtaking imagery, the signed hardback Alien Ultimate Guide is both another celebration of classic horror cinema, and a darkly enticing addition to your horror movie magazine collection.

Speculation about what form extraterrestrial life might take is nothing new, but 1979’s multi-award-winning Alien moved all the goalposts and gave audiences something fresh and unexpected. Dan O’Bannon’s screenplay, based on an idea he developed with Ronald Shusett, had a strange genesis in an earlier comedy project, but would become one of the most iconic motion pictures in the sci-fi horror canon, and made star Sigourney Weaver a living legend. Across a series of engaging, professionally written articles, the signed hardback Alien 1979 Ultimate Guide reveals the story behind the movie’s creation, as well as its development into the milestone we recognise it as today. You’ll gain an insight into the film’s evolution, and a greater appreciation of its many merits, as we track its progress from the page to the screen.

Your experience of the signed casebound Alien 1979 Ultimate Guide is a rich and satisfying one. In line with our other hardcover Ultimate Guides, it’s produced to A4 size (210mm x 297mm), with a sturdy, oversized anti-scuff laminated cover as lustrous as the carapace of the xenomorph itself. The inner pages are printed on fine silk stock paper, bringing an air of subtitle sophistication to the turn of every page. The design takes inspiration from the movie’s stylings without ever crowding out the content: with substance in spades as well as plenty of style, this signed hardback Alien guide is as enjoyable to read as it is beautiful.

As you dive into everything the signed hardcover Alien Ultimate Guide has to offer, you’ll learn how the many creative minds involved in the movie brought their own skills to the emerging horror. While O’Bannon and Shusett carefully crafted the story into the apparently effortless drip-feed narrative of clues and threats, director Ridley Scott brought his visionary approach and renowned commitment to atmosphere. Meanwhile, the work of Swiss artist H R Giger meant the alien itself was like nothing audiences had ever seen – aggressive, unstoppable, completely other. This signed Alien 1979 casebound guide is an open airlock inviting you into the movie’s gritty vision of a future where things really didn’t turn out so well after all, but you’ll also discover how it captured older horror sensibilities, evoking the spirit of genre classics to create a story that resonates with devotees of golden age monsters too.

Key to the abiding horror of this movie is its mix of dark industrial design and Giger’s sinuous xenomorph creation. The aesthetic is crucial to the experience, and that’s why this signed hardback Alien 1979 Ultimate Guide magazine features a collection of stills so beautiful, they could wake you from hypersleep. Carefully selected and restored to look their absolute best, they showcase crucial moments from the film, offering a sumptuous look at the grim reality of life in space. Our use of full colour print processes means even black and white stills are printed using a full range of tones, bringing the kind of contrast and depth that traditional monochrome printing simply cannot replicate. The result is a signed hardcover guide to Alien that will become a treasured part of your collection,

Of course, a movie like this would be nothing without the right people, so the signed casebound Alien 1979 Ultimate Guide also features a host of biographies to give you a greater understanding of the people behind the production. Packed with information, these features introduce the cast, allowing you to reflect on the work of Sigourney Weaver, John Hurt, Tom Skerritt and Veronica Cartwright among others. We also move behind the camera, recounting the achievements of the likes of director Ridley Scott, composer Jerry Goldsmith and writer Dan O’Bannon. The result is an essential publication for any fan of Alien or the wider science fiction horror: written and designed with love and care, and produced to the high standards you expect, it’s sure to take pride of place in your sci-fi horror collection.

This trip back to Earth sure is taking a while, and it didn’t help that we had to stop off at that planet on the way. We didn’t even find much there apart from a few eggs, although Kane has been very quiet about it since he got back on board. Perhaps he doesn’t like talking with his mouth full. There was a lot of screaming from the other crew for a while, but I don’t know where they’ve all got to, and things feel a little tense, so maybe we should find a quiet corner and read the signed hardback Ultimate Guide to Alien 1979 until things settle down. This computer room seems comfortable, and after all, Mother knows best…
