Serialised in Collier’s magazine, Jack Finney’s 1954 novel ‘The Body Snatchers’ told of a threat falling from space, with seed pods growing replacements for the human population of a California town. By the time Allied Artists brought the story to the screen in 1956, the tale had evolved into a nerve-wracking motion picture experience that left audiences unsure of who to trust. As you explore the Ultimate Guide to Invasion of the Body Snatchers you’ll discover the movie’s path from the written word to the terrifying cinematic results.
